When to See a Doctor in Bali: Symptoms You Should Not Ignore

Knowing when to seek medical help can be the difference between a minor inconvenience and a serious health crisis.

Seek Immediate Medical Attention If:

Fever Symptoms

  • Temperature above 38.5C (101.3F) for more than 24 hours
  • Fever with severe headache behind the eyes (possible dengue)
  • Fever with rash (possible dengue or allergic reaction)
  • Fever with joint and muscle pain (possible dengue)
  • Gastrointestinal

  • Blood in vomit or stool
  • Unable to keep any fluids down for 6+ hours
  • Severe abdominal pain (not just cramping)
  • Diarrhea lasting more than 3 days
  • Injuries

  • Deep cuts that may need stitches
  • Any coral reef wound (high infection risk)
  • Head injuries, even if feeling OK (monitor for 24 hours)
  • Burns larger than a palm size
  • Respiratory

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Chest pain
  • Severe cough with blood
  • Diving Emergencies

  • Ear pain after diving
  • Joint pain after diving (possible decompression sickness)
