The nearest international-standard hospital is 45-90 minutes away depending on traffic, which in Bali can be significant.

For most travelers, this distance is not a problem until it is. Getting Bali belly in the middle of the night in a jungle villa, having a child develop a high fever, or sustaining an injury during a Campuhan Ridge walk creates a situation where having a doctor come to you is infinitely preferable to navigating to a clinic while unwell.
